Consensual Non-Monogamy Resources

Compiled By DR. Heath Schechinger

Through my research and clinical experience with people engaged in ethical non-monogamy, I have developed and come across a number of resources. I have compiled many of my favorite resources below.

APA Division 44 Committee on CNM Resources

The following resources were developed by Dr. Heath Schechinger and/or the APA Division 44 Committee on Consensual Non-monogamy:

Polyamory Legal Advocacy Coalition Resources

The following resources were developed by Dr. Heath Schechinger and Diana Adams, Esq., two of the Co-Founders of the Polyamory Legal Advocacy Coalition. These documents can be used as resources for individuals or organizations advocating for the rights of those with diverse family and relationship structures, such as polyamory and consensual non-monogamy. These documents can be shared on various platforms, including websites, social media, and educational resources, to promote greater inclusivity and acceptance for people in these relationships. They can also be used as resources for those who have experienced discrimination or harassment, providing language to confront and articulate such discrimination.

Therapist Directories

One way to remove the barrier to culturally competent healthcare is to help people engaged in ENM identify medical and mental health providers that are affirming of diverse relationships and sexualities. I co-led a campaign to request the APA Psychologist Locator and Psychology Today to add searchable categories for Ethical Non-Monogamy/Open Relationships and Kink/Diverse Sexualities. Our campaign was successful. Their directories are now easier to find ENM and kink-affirming therapists. Here are links to these directories:
